su, sudo password
Hello Friends of CAINE, Giancarlo, ypso and nannib,
I am booting CAINE 2.5(.0) Live CD.
[my edit]
My md5sum (good):
d20cf2da3815fba99c6cbcc4c196f283 caine2.5.iso
My sha1sum (unknown):
0aa33834f64a1180ef4701f736105fc073cf5bff caine2.5.iso
[/my edit]
What should the root (su, sudo, sudo su) password be? I can not guess it...
I searched the Caine Forum for "password" and "sudo" but only found this unresolved thread:
https://cainelive.rpg-board.net/t16p15-username-password#283
My issue is similar, but it is not the same as the "Username & Password" thread (above).
When using "wifi" (NetworkManager Applet 0.8 ), I am asked for "Unlock Login Keyring... password:" Using "caine" works as the password. Therefore, "caine" seemed to be the "root" password.
When trying to use "Nautilus (as root)", "sudo", "sudo su", I am asked for a password (not username/password). I try: "root", "caine", "Caine", "CAINE", "password", "nautilus", and "<cr>" ... but can not get these applications to allow me to use them. See images below (I hope I posted them correctly).
Thank you for CAINE Linux...

Re: su, sudo password
You have not to use sudo su but simply sudo....
e.g. sudo nautilus
that's all

nannib, friend!
Thank you for solving this!
Again, I am using CAINE LiveCD to boot, wifi, surf and type this post... After "sudo nautilus" in terminal to start Nautilus (without asking me for a password), I navigated to my local drive on /media/sdb1 (My Passport USB drive from above), but saw no files or folders - that was because "sdb1" was not mounted (for data security). I did not find "mount" on the drop-down options when I right-mouse-clicked the "sdb1" folder/partition, so I opened a terminal on /media and entered "mount -rw /dev/sdb1 /media/sdb1" and can now see my drive partition and all its contents.
Thank you CAINE and friends of CAINE.
