Re: Username & Password
This is indeed a very strange and unusual problem. I've just downloaded the english version, I tried it with Vmware and booted normally. I mean, like a normal livecd, without asking me username/password.
Would you please ask me some questions?
- Did it ask you user/pass on the graphical interface (the one it comes out when you log out) or via Linux prompt?
- Did you try CAINE in only one PC?
- Can you describe the type of PC in which you tried CAINE?
- Did you boot CAINE normally or in safe graphical mode?
Thanks... We try to figure out your problem...

Re: Username & Password
It's strange, because many people are using Caine Live Cd and this is the first time I read about this problem...
Are you using the Live CD or have you installed Caine?
Let me Know

Re: Username & Password
Ok let's try...some questions:
1) The ISO hash code is correct?
2) Download it again
3) Change Cd-rom, try to write the ISO file on another cd-rom and/or using another cd-rom writer.
4) Try, at the boot, the CD/DVD integrity test.
Maybe is something is not read correctly from the cd...
Let me know
Thanks

Re: Username & Password
1)
i always check the hash produced before i burn any iso (k3b)
2) well, your 4)
i ran the integrity test from the menu.
first it displayed the crunch bang logo which rather confuse me.
then it said "Checking integrity, this may take some time"
- found errors in 6 files
i'll download the image again.

Re: Username & Password
with the new disk, the verify disk option on the menu found 7 files had errors.
so i thought that, maybe, my machine had a problem. seemed like my next step should be to run the memory test (from the same disk)
- guess what, i found lots of errors! that was last night but i didn't have the time to post then.
this morning, a new day, with new problems, a new optimism and new solutions.
while i was eating my toast i had the idea to run the memory test from a different distro, after all, the caine disk did have 7 corrupt files, maybe memtest was one of them. so i picked up the first distro i saw, ubuntu 9.10 386 desktop, and started memtest v2.11
that was 2hrs and 25 mins ago - 2 complete passes plus 66% and test 4% - not one error!
the ubuntu cd was downloaded and burned on the same machine as the 2 caine cd's.
thoughts?

Re: Username & Password
Ok.
Try to download the ISO, check the MD5 hash.
Then copy the ISO on and USB Pendrive and try to record it on a CD-Rom using a PC of one friend of yours.
Then Boot the CD on the friend's PC.
Let me know
Bye

Re: Username & Password
I've read the thread and nowhere does it give the answer to my question. I asked for the username and password. I've downloaded the Live CD and don't have a problem with it as the others do but it does not have WinTaylor when I boot. Apparently the only way to get that is off the bootable USB but I'm guessing somebody created the image with a username and password and won't share?

Re: Username & Password
It is not as you say...many people downloaded the NBCaine and Caine and they are using them quietly...
You have to check your download, check the MD5, check your USB device...
Wintaylor is visible only attaching the USB to a Windows System, because is the external suite of programs for the live analysis.
You have to boot from your USB port, with the USB pendrive NBCaine attacched.
NO Username or Password were required...it's a problem of your download/system/pendrive/I don't know :-)
Sorry, but this is all the help I can give you...I hope you got it
Thanks

Some users report the same problem with Helix3 Pro. It seems there is a bug somewhere.
