noob question... Empty noob question...

I just downloaded Caine 1.5 Live CD. What I would to do is to have an external usb drive to save images to. I can see the usb drive in /dev/sdb1 but it is only read only ( I understand why) How do I image the drive in question to the usb device to start exploring it?

I am completely new to this and doing this for fun.

You have to mount the destination device in read/write mode...
Learn how to use the "mount" command in Linux...
